The bare minimum amount of time a character can go before remembering their name is a month! "Soothead" would be very easy to trigger like you said, so we definitely expect him to be one of the first! So a month is fine -- but if you'd like to have it forgotten longer, The Witch could easily tell the sootballs to avoid him for a time, up until they started to miss him too much.
