1) If someone fights/kills/whatever well, then there's a definite chance they could make better money fighting in the arena than dealing at one of the casino tables. Spirits are fickle, after all - one might pay well for a relaxing evening of food and gambling, another might want to see you stab some guy in the face.
1a.) We have events involving the arena planned for the future (like tournaments and such. things that would happen in an arena), but we won't say no to someone who wants to handwave participation in anything over there
2) Her cellphone works perfectly fine, save for the lack of signal! So she can look at everything, but she can't call or text anyone. Weirdly, though, there is Wi-Fi, if she has the sort of phone that can use the Internet. It gets stronger the closer she gets to The Witch's office...
Maybe she should ask to switch providers?
As for names, they'd all be intact, but if she were to get canonmates, she'd just be incapable of associating what's written there with the person the name belongs to.
